If you’re a fan of Imagine Dragons, then you’re going to want to hear about Brit-band, Some Velvet Morning! Back with a vinyl re-release of their hit album ‘Rough Seas’ with three music videos to boot, it’s a clear sign that there is much to enjoy from the trio. With the weekly releases of the videos having already been and gone, all three videos are there for your viewing pleasure – do not miss out on this! Some Velvet Morning are definitely a band that you should keep an eye on!

Introducing the album, is the blood pumping ‘Ghosts’, a song which was given a video in this re-release. The track gives sets the rest of the album up well, building anticipation while also demonstrating the quality of Rob Flanagan on drums, Des Lambert on guitar and Gavin Lambert on bass, with the two also contributing on vocals. Having been warmed up thoroughly, the next song on the album is the barnstorming, rip-roaring, ‘Rough Seas’ – moving away from a song that builds anticipation, it gives you every powerhouse riff that you want in a song like this. Engaging, exciting and of the highest quality, the album is off to a flying start.

As you let ‘Rough Seas’ play through, it becomes quickly apparent that while they do have their own signature sound, they don’t look at one type of delivery for their music. Songs like ‘Magic Places’ and ‘Butterfly’ illustrate a clear difference in approach, showcasing a versatility and expertise in multiple approaches, with both tracks sounding as if they’re made by totally different artists. There’s so much on ‘Rough Seas’ that reaches across genres, having something that would appeal to absolutely anyone.

‘Rough Seas’ is overall a fantastic album. Multiple approaches, multiple styles, all under the umbrella of their sound that is crafted by years and years of hard work and talent. Not many artists will have songs as good as theirs throughout their career, and yet they’ve done it with one album. It’s no wonder that there’s a re-release along with a bunch of videos just one short year after its initial release.

With all videos having already been released, for songs such as ‘Ghosts’, ‘After Goodbye’ and ‘Good To See You’, there is a lot to get stuck into with Some Velvet Morning – and with the vinyl also being released, this is your sign to go grab a copy! With nothing to show that their standards will lower, a plethora of good releases and an exciting future on the horizon, this is your sign to add Some Velvet Morning to your playlist as soon as physically possible!
