Stephen Wicks is preparing to release his most urgent song yet with “The Doomsday Clock (85 Seconds to Midnight),” a powerful rock single due out on 10 July. The track takes inspiration from the symbolic Doomsday Clock maintained by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists and turns its warning into a dramatic musical statement.
At 74, Wicks has moved from a long career in business and property entrepreneurship into songwriting and recording. Now focused fully on music, he is using his perspective as a seasoned observer of world events to address fears surrounding climate change, nuclear risk, artificial intelligence and geopolitical instability.
The new single marks Wicks’ fifth release and was produced by acclaimed British producer George Shilling, whose credits include work with Blur, Primal Scream and Steve Winwood. Lead guitar on the recordings is performed by Stefan Hauk, recognised as one of Australia’s most exciting young guitarists.
“The Doomsday Clock (85 Seconds to Midnight)” is expected to arrive with an official music video that reflects the track’s central image: a clock ticking ever closer to midnight. Through driving instrumentation and stark lyricism, Wicks presents the song as both a warning and a call for reflection.
