‘Tis the season to dig out those cheesy old Christmas songs we all know and love (or sometimes hate). But, in between spinning “Last Christmas,” “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day” and so forth, take a moment or two to enjoy some new seasonal music, in the form of “Silver Bells” by singer Michael Tinholme. There’s a whole lot of old-school class on display here, with sumptuous production and a deep, lovely and warm vibe.
If you’ve not heard of Michael before, you will be surprised at his background. There’s a Hollywood movie to be found in his life-story. Michael has overcome challenges which most of us shudder to contemplate, including domestic abuse and homelessness, to get where he is today. That must have taken a whole lot of determination and no little amount of spirit.
Despite his troubled past, Tinholme is clearly a person who has nothing but positive things to say. You can feel a genuine love and respect issuing through his work, not least on “Silver Bells,” which is sure to brighten up your Christmas and might just possibly make it to your enduring seasonal playlist.
