The answer is David Mindel, the 76-year-old songwriter whose talents have spanned nearly six decades. And now, after years of penning earworms for McDonald’s, Cadbury’s, and more, Mindel is releasing his very first single, “Life Of No Regret,” on October 25th, 2023.

Mindel first exploded onto the scene in 1974 when he worked alongside Gary Benson to write Olivia Newton John’s Eurovision entry, “Someday.” Talk about a big debut! This marked the beginning of a successful career that would go on to include writing for two more UK Eurovision entries, as well as crafting the memorable themes for The National Lottery, Coogan’s Run, and House Hunters. But don’t let his impressive resume fool you – Mindel is far more than just a jingle writer. He also co-led the band Esprit de Corps, where he served as co-lead singer, rhythm guitarist, writer, and producer. Teaming up with 16 female collaborators, Mindel co-wrote a series of empowering songs that tackled tough topics like domestic abuse, depression, and bullying. And now, after years of bringing us songs that have been stuck in our heads for ages, Mindel is giving us a taste of his own sound. “Life of No Regret” is an autobiographical track that showcases Mindel’s raw and rugged vocals over a country-style arrangement.
